| | One of these sort of "smart food" franchise things; the first thing you notice upon entering the flat-surfaced interior is an overpowering citrus smell that hits you like a ton of oranges. On the plus side, this left little doubt in my mind that they actually do use fresh fruit in their drink concoctions. They have whole slews and categories of these things, some of them claiming to be "healthy" with tons of fruits and vitamins; they even have "boosters" you can get where they throw in protein powders or whatever. Not really my cuppa. They're all smoothies, more or less; I went for a yogurty one with blueberries and strawberries. It was made within a few minutes, and was actually really tasty, and yes there were chunks of strawberry sitting in the bottom of the large "original" size cup after I'd sucked the thick liquidy part up. So fine, they taste good, and they use some natural ingredients; but let's not go pretending that this is real good diet food or anything; I feel a little nauseated, having looked up nutritional information on their web site, at how many grams of carbohydrates those 24 purplish ounces I downed probably contained. Sigh. Oh well, I suppose at least it was low on cholesterol and MSG. |
