Eatery consisting of mainly one medium-sized room with a high ceiling, and some patio space out front. The interior seems almost designed to reflect sound into the middle, where on a moderately busy Friday night I found that I couldn't hear the waitress when she stood next to me and spoke. For a joint with chic French pretensions, this was annoying, as was the blowsy fat-potted plant in the middle of the table, dividing it into two separate two-seat arrangements.

Decor and dinner were not particularly stylish, although dinner was on the semi pricey side of things for this area, especially considering the just plain small portions. I wouldn't have minded that so much perhaps except that the bits that were there were not really scrumptious. I had hmm duck and pork with grilled peaches or something like that, only the duck was I think just about non-existent, the pork was two dry sausage-like things laid on a small bed of black and white rice, and the peaches were several not-quite-ripe, somewhat charred slices scattered around the bed. My friend's "tuna two ways" looked similarly forlorn. I think they may be too hip for sauces at this place.

I read that their fries are pretty good, though, and come to think of it, my friend actually made some audible exclamation about fries smelling good after a waiter walked past with a plate, so if I ever get lured back there, maybe I'll just stick with the chips.

The same friend, who lives nearby and has dined there often, tells me that the Bistro is now under new management, and is somewhat less impressive.
