KCET tries their hand at the Goemon 2D platforming franchise with typically stylish results. Once again you play the funky blue-haired guy with his battle bong or whatever jumping around and smashing various evil-doers with a variety of weapons, and even different characters as you'll need to switch between them to make use of their unique skills to get through the stages.

The big difference here comes in the Sentai-style boss battles: after you defeat the boss on foot, you both call down giant robots and smash it out in first-person 3D, just like in Bandai's Sentai games, except that the attack sequences here are much more complex.

Each stage has an overview map that lets you backtrack to different areas and even go back to a previous stage if you want, and there are friendly cities where you can shop for powerups and talk to passers-by (though this is all in Japanese, of course, so I dunno what they're talking about). Lots of keen graphical effects and good use of 3D backgrounds in a 2D playstyle.

The gameplay is fun, quite challenging (took me a while to beat the first stage, ouch) and varied, though slightly less wacky than some of the other Goemon games. Shame there's no two-player co-op.
