I can't remember how I ended up with this; already having the DC version, I certainly wouldn't have needed this one, particularly in Japanese. Must have been a shipping mistake or something.

Anyway, I was impressed by this port. It runs very fast and colorful, although maybe not quite as smoothly animated as the DC version. It has quite a few fewer modes (unlocked by default, at least), but it has World Tour, which is the main thing. I don't know if it has "Dramatic" 2 vs 1 action, though, which would be a bummer. It also doesn't have the DC version's (see entry 1033) Evil Ryu or Guile. Oh, and it doesn't have the weird optional "make my character weaker" character select modes found in the DV version, nor does it have in-game move lists.

I wonder why "Zero" was renamed to "Alpha" in the States? Maybe marketing thought players would think "Zero" was for losers? And so what is "A-ism" in "Alpha" is "Z-ism" in "Zero," which makes a little more sense anyway 'cause that means the three isms are "X," "Y," and "Z."

With PS2 fast loading on, the load times are pretty negligible, but they're there--possibly caused largely by having to pause to load and display the pretty load screens this game has.
