That Visual Concepts had a hand in this 3d platformer/shooter perhaps helps acoount for the superb graphics and nonstop action. It's also got the coolest opening voiceover I can remember at the moment. But style ain't everthing and it gets really frustrating when you're jumping along through some nefarious platform puzzle over yet another pit of instant death, only to plunge to eternity thanks to yet another sudden fluctuation in the framerate.

More deadly than the squidgey framerate is the camera, which seems to rejoice in playing with you during intricate jumping puzzles by either moving so far away you can't see where you're going, or panning down to foot level so you can't see what you have to jump ahead to--no lie, you literally can't see where you have to jump at certain points and One (WAHAHAHA! err... sorry) misstep means replaying most, if not all, of the very lengthy level. Frustrating? Oh yes.

So far the shooting bits are fun but the jumping and re-jumping is not. But I have to wonder: if they had made a sequel to this game, would it have been called... "Two"?
