Wide-screen (non-tate) 2D vertical shooter with rather unremarkable presentation aside from some of the ugliest rendered video clips you've seen. Fortunately you can skip those and proceed to the game itself, which plays fairly well.

You choose from three different ships, each with a different type of gun--I like the one that when powered up has a constant laser stream thing like DonPachi. :) I got hit a lot though by solitary bullets with that thing--I think I was losing the tiny enemy bullets in my own massive outpouring of energy. Ah well. Weird bomb effects too: sometimes a big buddha comes out and sits in the middle of the screen while flames shoot everywhere, or sometimes your ship gets a force field that looks like a buddha head and then shoots a huge laser beam for a few seconds.

The default fire button is remarkably uneffective, making it very difficult to shoot down even the smallest of enemies before they fly up, shoot at you (and some of them shoot off a good spread of bullets) and fly off--considering that the game usually throws these guys at you in bunches of four to eight, this quickly becomes a problem. Fortunately you can tap the rapid fire button instead of the regular button, and send forth assaults that actually damage enemies. Suddenly the game becomes pretty fun--nothing terribly remarkable, but, aside from my odd problem of being blindsided by random bullets, a fun vertical shooter.
