Very faithful port of the game that so fascinated me as a tad that I would shamelessly get myself invited over to friends' houses to play it week after week and month after month, until my brother and I finally persuaded my parents to get an NES of our own.

It's done so very right here, aside from not quite having the resolution to see the full screen at once (but you can pan), that all the nostalgia comes flooding right back, and even some of the memories of secrets and things.

Then there are The Lost Levels, which of course I don't remember, since I sure didn't import stuff back then. These are hard. Currently I can't pass world 8-2, it's a darn trick think and you have to hit a secret beanstalk by jumping over a chasm and landing on a paratrooper just right so that the slight hop you make after landing on him breaks the vine block above you. I'm just not gettin' that one at all. :P

Then there's the "Challenge" mode of collecting crap in each level, not really my thing, and the Vs. race mode, which is kind of cute looking but I'm not sure I've ever played it two-player. And racing a silly ghost named Boo. I'm not much for the extras, but SMB and The Lost Levels are primo.

The save option is a lifesaver, and I'll admit that the unlimited continues smooth things out nicely.
