"Drew some blood from the Italian Stallion."

First-person boxing game, broadly similar to the GBA Hajime no Ippo (entry 119) and must have been at least a bit inspired by the classic Punch Out. Controls take quite a bit of getting used to as you have to waggle the stick actively to dodge left/right and block, you can't just hold a direction. Also, while you can rip off charged power punches, you can't move at all while charging, so you pretty much have to take some hits while charging up. And oh yeah, the exact location of your hit zones isn't intuitive at all.

All that aside, or perhaps at least in part because of it, winning a bout is quite satisfactory. Especially since, at least in the first fight vs Rocky Marciano (hoo!), you have to go seven or eight rounds before wearing him down, and he puts a pretty good hitting on you in the mean time. The whole health meter thing is unusually complicated in this game: your hits drain the opponent's stamina, but this is usually replenished completely with the expenditure of a little of their "energy" meter between rounds. So even if you punch someone's Stamina near to zero in one round, they're right up nearly at the top of their meter again in the next round.
