"Joust 2 came out on the first Midway Arcade Treasures compilation."

Something about this game bugs me, maybe it's the small vertical monitor, or the huge amount of gameplay gimmicks thrown in on top of the original's classic flapping action, things like swarms of annoying little bat things, or giant eagle statues that shoot laser beams from their eyes, or monsters that spawn out of gems in walls. Or maybe that they've added a second button now: "Transform" toggles your steed from an ostrich to a pegasus, the pegasus having much better handling on the ground. It's all just--I don't know, too much weird stuff going on in not enough space.

Stage design gets pretty wild, which can be annoying. Then again, it has a lot more variety, as does the game as a whole, than the prequel. For instance I watched two guys play through past level 50 and they were having a grand old time. So I don't know, maybe I'm just hating on it because it's different than my cherished memories of the original.
