This Bally table has a somewhat unusual layout: very long space straight up the middle (well, slightly left of middle), a narrow ramp and middle flipper on the left side, and then several ramps and jets, launch chute, etc, on the right side, taking up the entire side. The right ramps look like fairly wide plastic affairs, but I had a really hard time hitting them. The stuff up the middle, on the other hand, is pretty darn easy to hit, and the main meat of the game seems to lie there.

It goes like this: lock two balls in the upper middle traps, then that section of the table rises, exposing six or so little round bumper targets. Hit the targets, or something, and the section rises again, exposing three chutes. Knock the ball down the chutes for jackpots, multi-ball, etc.

Quite literally straightforward then, which helps me out, but also sort of limits variety a bit. Playing two player, we saw a glitch of some kind where a locked ball dropped when the ball in play drained, providing an extra ball, in effect; and then when the next player locked a second ball, the first locked ball dropped, instead of staying locked and having the center section raise.

As for the table's theme, I don't know jack about Doctor Who, but the table includes lots of graphics and sound clips supposedly from the movie. They do okay, I guess.

Just as I was finally getting the hang of blasting the middle targets and racking up a good score, the darn machine switched itself off! I hit something or other, and the whole thing went dead--then came back up a second later, but with the game reset and no credits. Weird! I must have scared it.
