An awesome Rolling Thunder clone with large, rapidly-moving and well-animated sprites that seem to defy the limitations of the NES hardware. How did you do it, Capcom? How?

As in Rolling Thunder, your dude guns his way along high or low platforms, popping into doors to get ammo and guns, and maybe even to dodge baddies. Viper throws in the additional twist of having to search the doors to find and rescue hostages. Once you've entered a door, you can stay behind it as long as you want by holding Up on the D-pad--this is handy for letting baddies walk by you.

Like Rolling Thunder, Code Name: Viper is no slouch in the difficulty department. There's little wiggle room, and you can only take two hits--one if it's particularly nasty.

I also dig the colorful backgrounds. I would totally get this game if I had an NES.
