| Seems an awful lot like Gauntlet Legends in the early going here, even graphically--which is not a good thing considering that GL was a bad-looking DC game. Still I played through that one just about all the way with a couple friends and we had a good time, and I expect the same could happen here as it's still the old monster-generator gang-busting Gauntlet gameplay of old. They've tweaked it up a bit now to be sure, as you've got two different strength attacks, plus a charging attack, and of course the big magic attacks from GL. Otherwise it doesn't look like it's come a really long way since GL but for that reason I have something of a nostalgic soft-spot for it. I'm such a damn softy. Certainly there are better multiplayer games out there but if you want one you can sit down with (multiplayer) for a long time and feel like you're at least going through a rudimentary type of adventure, Gauntlet is one of the few out there (okay okay GC PSO splitscreen, but I don't feel like it). |
