Doc Death is the most overpowered character in the game. And it's not 'cause of his weapons skills or hardware. It's 'cause of his medicine.

The doctor is out... Doc Death has some other really good points that would make him a match for any of the other players on their own. He's fast and agile, although he's pretty bad in the cardiovascular endurance department. He starts with a rifle, which he's more effective with than anyone except James Anderson. He's got a mean customized pistol with death heads on it that's louder'n hell, and he's second only ta Spittin' Jack in a pistol duel. He can't take much damage, although he can take a bit more than Sanchez.

I can't tell you the number of times I've been in a gunfight with a Doc, and I KNOW I pumped enough lead into him to kill anyone else long before, but he hasn't died yet. Arg!

He's also really hard to hit.
The other characters in the game all stand upright while walking and running. But Doc's got this nasty hunchback that causes him to crab around bent over, so that he's almost as short standing as the others are kneeling. This makes him a smaller target; if yer not used ta aimin' down a bit while shootin' then you'll miss him a good deal of the time.

So far we've got a sorta freakish Anderson/Sanchez hybrid that's extra tough to hit. Should be plenty powerful, right? Well, he's got another trick up his doctor's sleeve: medical bags. He starts out with three of these, and together they can heal him completely when he's on the verge of death. So basically he gets two lives for everyone else's one, which explains why he's the most popular character among experienced players.

Me, I find it a bit cheesy.
The medkits simply give him too much of an advantage. I can't tell you the number of times I've been in a gunfight with a Doc, and I KNOW I pumped enough lead into him to kill anyone else long before, but he hasn't died yet. Arg! Couple this with the fact that he doesn't excel in any given weapon (he's second with the rifle and pistol, and good but not the best with most of the other weapons) and you've got a character I find real distasteful.

Doc advocates have pointed out ta me that he loses health faster'n anyone besides Sanchez, but the difference pales compared to the advantage the healing power of the kits gives him. Then they ask me "if he's so powerful why don't YOU use him?" Well guess what, I did for a while. I figgered well my name's Paleface, and he's got the palest face of all; he's practically an albino. So I used him and once I got used ta usin' his medicine I kicked a lot of butt. But I got weary of it, especially 'cause I just hate usin' pistols all the time.

Now I don't particularly begrudge anyone who uses the Doc. I just take particular pleasure in killin' 'em when their medbags finally run out.

Check Doc's character variables from the Outlaws olobj.lab data file.
