how often do you all still check the board(s)? I used to do it once per day even as recently as 5 years ago. then went down to once per week. now probably once every two weeks roughly? It's amazing that the place is still going at all, but just curious who else is lurking and waiting for something to react to, or even just checking to make sure it's still here. Hey Paleface, you once made this awesome webcomic?
I forgot the name, is it still online?

Hey Nibjets, did you know that some English guy with the same first name as you released a pretty awful song a few years ago called "Too Good At Goodbyes"? How do you feel about that?

Also, where can I get the instrumental versions of the Good At Goodbye tracks? They're not in the album download on truetruetrue.org

Switch Switch Region Question: I bought the JP version of Super Robot Wars 30 and if possible I’d like to get the DLC. Is there any way to do this? The in-game link to the store doesn’t work. Has anyone ever done anything like this? Is it possible? I have a US Switch with a US shop account and a JP copy of the game. I get a “software not available” error.

BTW, even though I specifically bought a Japanese version of the game it plays in English on a US system. This is great for most people but I read robot names faster in Japanese and I can’t stand the super long dialogue sequences in any language so I reboot and change the system language. Still, it’s pretty cool that the carts do this and it’s probably a big reason why this game sold so well.

Speaking of the Atari 2600, Wave Twisters is on Youtube

I got an Atari 2600+ for Christmas. I've been playing Centipede, Asteroids, Berserk, and Dragonfire! I'm finding it more and more difficult to put any significant time aside for video games, so something like 2600 games are perfect for me right now. What are some of your favorite 2600 games? In the days of my youth, I thought we would all die of cancer, so I developed an understanding of self that I thought would make those experiences easier. I see now that I had it all wrong. It is the slow loss of the very self that I thought could carry us through cancer that will actually kill us. (n/t) (Never Mind and Opa Opa) (18:30:26 11/21/23 EST)

I recently discovered that in Tengen's version of Tetris on the NES you can press A+B on the Game Over screen to restart the game. What's cool about this way of restarting (instead of just quickly pressing Start 3 or 4 times which is what I've always done) is that the the random seed doesn't get reset, so you can play the exact same game over again. In theory, it means you could memorize a perfect game and kill the high score table. I have too much self-respect to play Tetris that way, though, but it's a nice feature to use in cases where you felt like the random pieces were terrible and there was no way to do well. You can try again and see if there actually was a better alternative. I've done this a few times now and definitely have found cases when no matter what I tried, I still couldn't do well.

What's really striking about this discovery for me, though, is that I have put probably thousands of hours into this version of Tetris--I play it almost every day and have done for something like 25 years--but I'd never found this A+B trick before. Crazy that something so simple was there just waiting for me to find it all this time.

Have you ever seen a pair of children's underwear in the gutter, torn and muddy and beaten into the pavement, and it sort of makes you pause and think...about life...and stuff? (n/t) (Underoos and Opa Opa) (14:36:39 06/14/23 EST)

The Sanni Cart Reader V5

supposedly supports NGP carts via a user-defined adapter, which in theory would mean being able to dump their ROMs and read and write save data. Unless you can create a circuit board from a software definition of one though you might be out of luck; I don't know that anyone is actively making and selling the adapters. The base reader itself is pretty sweet aside from that though, and it does natively support GB, GBC, and GBA carts.

PC Engine Business! Found a seemingly unknown glitch or something in Double Dragon II: The Revenge on my PC Engine Duo-R: hammer on the I, II, and Run buttons all at once for a while in 1P Play mode, and the 2P character, Jimmy appears; the game acts like it is now in 2P Play B mode, except that both characters are controlled simultaneously using just the 1P controller.

I was NOT able to reproduce this emulating via Mednafen. Maybe it's a quirk of my repaired controller port? If you've got your own console and can try it out, lemme know what happens!

Hello, I think there should be a holiday where people give old stuff they don't want anymore to their friends and family. This would be a better holiday than Christmas or even Kwanzaa since not only would the recipient benefit by getting something they might appreciate, but also the giver would benefit by getting rid of something. Plus, companies wouldn't profit and might even ultimately take a loss. The only thing is that I don't know who to send my proposal to. President Biden? The UN Security Council? The Pope?

Any advice would be appreciated here. I'll consider naming this new holiday after you if you can help.

For the past year or so, I seem to get The Shits more often than I used to. It's mild, but happens every couple months. The liquid that comes out of my butt is bright yellow as if I'd been eating turmeric (even if I haven't) and it smells like flowers. Is this the dreaded...long COVID? Did you know that the boobs of a whale cow are muscular and she actively squirts milk into her calf's mouth? Somehow I feel like if human women could do that, they'd get more respect in our society. (n/t) (Memory Gland and Opa Opa) (15:50:31 10/04/22 EST)

You guys were right. Sonic 1 and Sonic CD are the true Sonic. Sonic 2, while a great game, is half way to a train wreck in several ways and 3/Knuckles is just some Donkey Kong Country style bullshit that’s a million miles too long. I don’t know why I didn’t see this clearly at the time. (n/t) (SignOfZeta) (08:15:54 08/31/22 EST)
