posted by substance j (userid: 71.139.RhO6PQ) on september 29, 2008 at 22:47:22 est in reply to i'm temporarily living way out of the amsterdam center. it's a long bike ride through a kind of man-made semi-wild park. one stretch is inhabitated by lots of rabbits, scottish highlander cows, and... gay cruisers! it's really quite funny. every single time i've rode through, also early foggy morning, i've seen single bikes parked by the road, and then a guy standing thirty meters into the park, waiting around and trying to look casual. after dark there's quite a few. i just googled it and apparently it's very well-known, and it was more popular before the city set out these highlanders. the world remains a fascinating place. i'm sad that brandon beat me to the witty analysis but i have to add that i'm especially struck by the fact cows have hampered tearoom activities in this park. it could be that i just downed a pint of beer on an empty stomach but this story made my whole night.
