dinner used to mean lunch everywhere english was spoken. it was still the biggest meal of the day, just earlier in the day. then supper at our dinner time was more like lunch. but i don't think that system is still used in england any more than it is in the u.s. it is a much healthier way of eating, though, and i try to eat like that as much as i can.
