For some reason I decided to start playing Memories of Celceta instead, which 12 hours in is one of the most offensively vanilla RPGs I ever played. Can't believe silent protagonists with amnesia are still a thing! Looking forward to give Odin Sphere a shot once I've slogged my way through the land of Celceta. (n/t) from Rockman Pocket.

Indeed! I will say that it's nice that each character has a different play style (notably Mercedes), so that kept things fresh. I never beat the original as I felt there were several parts of the design that worked against the player. Too bad about Memories of Celceta. I didn't get far into that one (reminded me of Ys 7 I think). I liked the combat and materials system of 7, but yeah, the amnesia thing usually bores me, too.
