| | Haven't played much of it, but I love how it handles--a sharp yet effortlessly smooth feel--and the tracks look incredible. You can set different weather types for a variety of spectacular views and race handling types; snow around that long German course (which I like to call "Nerd Ring" for short) looks incredible, rain in London if heartbreaking, and summer afternoon around Nerd Ring is jaw-dropping, even if the procedurally generated trees do sprout odd shapes at the top sometimes. The focus is PGR is more on fast street racing than tweaking, which I am all for. Like Bizarre Creations' previous racing games, you get "Kudos" points for long drifts, and now for neat moves (like driving over 180 mph, making a great turn, etc). 4 introduces motorcycles, which I didn't try; they look a little wobbly, but my friend claimed they were fun. Now that Bizarre's been bought by Activision, maybe they'll make a game for a system I own. Playing PGR 4 made me nostalgic for Metropolis Street Racer (which is not really hard to do); somehow that old glam street charm came back with this one, whereas I didn't feel it in the previous PGRs. |
