Jeepers, I wish they'd settle on a name. First it's "Pang" in Japan, then they bring it over here and call it "Buster Bros" (see entry 32), then they stick it on the PC Engine in Japan and call it "Pomping World" of all things. "Pomping World" doesn't really sound like somewhere you'd want to be but in this case, sounds are deceiving.

If, that is, you want to be in a good single-screen platform puzzle game, 'cause that's what you've got here. The solid gameplay and lone game mode remind me of the first Pang, but they've thrown in wily wandering monsters like hermit crabs and uh I think there were birds or something. Come to think of it, I seem to remember creatures coming after you in Pang if you took too long to finish a level, but here they come out whenever they like.

The bubble-busting action remains as fun as ever, and yes two-player simultaneous is supported, with this unusual caveat: if you die, you have to wait until your pal dies or gets to the next level before you can come back in. Curious.

Pomping, panging, or busting, it's all pretty darn good.
