| | Arcade Card fighting game based on that "Kabuki" anime or Far East of Eden or whatever. Itouryodan babelfishes as "One Sword Cool Talks," so yeah. Compared with Hudson's SNK fighting game ports, Kabuki animates very smoothly and runs at a very fast clip--almost too fast, really. The character sprites, while polished, are somewhat tiny, and not as well drawn as the renditions in the character selection screens, which look like art taken right out of the cartoon. The game supports six buttons (three punch, three kick) and each character appears to have at least a few special moves--I didn't see any supers, though. In addition to single player there's Vs. and simple survival mode. Gameplay isn't all that thrilling. While it moves fast, it's fairly spazzy at such a high speed. And the AI is really, really dumb: find a move that works on a character and just use it over and over (sweeps and fireballs are good candidates). Might be much more fun two-player. |

| | Ah so Loki from selectbutton.net https://selectbutton.net/t/pc-engine-welcome-to-the-ideal-world/13480/1016 filled me in that this is not an anime thing, it's a spin off from the Tengai Makyo aka Far East of Eden RPG series, which started on the PC Engine. |

| | More properly spelled "Makyou"--thanks Rudie @ selectbutton.net for the reminder! |
