Someone could make an INSANE wrestling game on the Neo but the best thing we got was King of Monsters. Imagine something like WWF Superstars crossed with FirePro. Earthquake sized sprites with loads of scaling…oh well.

Yeah I was thinking afterwards I should've just got King of Monsters 2. : P But really this was brought on by seeing footage of Technos Japan's WWF Wrestfest, dang man that looks amazing. Doesn't have scaling but looks super fun. There's a sprite game out now called Retromania Wrestling that is trying to copy it but of course just doesn't get the same zippiness to the action or nice look to the sprites.

Mostly I look at Super Dodge Ball on the NEOGEO and think why couldn't they have made a Double Dragon beat-em-up with sprite work of that scale. But I'm starting to think that nobody, including Technos themselves, has really improved upon the original arcade Double Dragon, so maybe it's just as well.

Sengoku doesn’t count? Those are pretty good games.

They're all right. I like the weirdness of the first one.

Oh no I've hit my own spam alert. I'll just jam these in here then, haha.

The 2009 PC port of Namco Driller Project's single-button arcade action puzzle game
Star Trigon
, with its added Story Mode, is available for download
for under $10
from Amazon
, curiously enough.

Again on a mostly unrelated note:
Only $1.79 on GOG right now. You can take the legally obtained bare kof2000.zip and neogeo.zip ROM files it drops in the install directory and just run them via the MAME command line for a pretty good KOF 2000 time. The DotEmu emu itself with its fixed 800p display and bizarre keyboard-only 1nput scheme is uh less good.

that deal appears to be over! that was quick. but regardless if we're talking about using a rom, I'll just... use a rom in that case, ha ha.

I don’t know what this is but I’m been playing a KOF 2000 ROM since before KOF 2001 came out.

Yeah, back then I was even desperate enough to have sent $10 to the team that ended up dumping it.

Hm my brain managed to make me forget that potentially some of the purchase price went to MBS now, argh. I already had the DotEmu version from Humble Bundle and was obsessed with knowing for sure if the GOG version could be used in the same way, the answer was yes, of course.
