You guys were right. Sonic 1 and Sonic CD are the true Sonic. Sonic 2, while a great game, is half way to a train wreck in several ways and 3/Knuckles is just some Donkey Kong Country style bullshit that’s a million miles too long. I don’t know why I didn’t see this clearly at the time.

PS3 though, bah.

I think a lot of people have said it. I wasn’t willing to accept that the spin dash only exists in lesser games so I was blind the obvious Sega of America stank all over 2 and aaaalllllll over 3/Knuckles.

I don't know about the true Sonic (I always sort of thought Knuckles Chaotix captured the essence of Sonic), but I will say that playing Sonic 1 while listening to The Chronic is a pure experience.
