To me NeoWave looked and felt exactly like what it was: a summer spent making an Atomiswave demo based on Geo assets so that SNK could get to work with a real game after that. I can’t even remember what was new for that game other than BGs.

Follow Ups:

They altered the roster a little, put in not-so-great music, sped up meter charging, and added some highly technical "modes" and a 5th button whose toggle increases damage but drains life, according to my notes.

Not sure about new moves but I think there was a new boss or two...aaaand no, I was completely wrong. The internet says the boss is young (AoF2) Geese Howard.

His sprite is from AoF2? That can’t look good. Or did they at least redraw one guy?

I assumed it just meant he's styled like the Geese from that era, not actually the same old sprite. I haven't taken a look to check.

Happened to be poking at this for a minute the other day and yeah, it's a weird-looking Geese. Thought at first from his (hidden) portrait on the character select screen that it was Andy Bogard. Not the best looking sprite, either; lacking physical definition, and a grungy color job.
