How's your PSOne Combo holding up, SignOfZeta? I'm pretty sure you had one 20 years ago and would play emulated arcade games on it before bed.
I don't have one but appreciate the design of it more now that TVs have changed so much. Would be cool to just have a standalone PSX with its own screen. I've been enjoying DuckStation on my desktop and play in a window while imagining it's a PSOne Combo :P

Some plastic fell off around the hinge, which I think is common, but otherwise it works perfectly. As for the actual playing it in the modern era…I’d say it highly depends on how much you like PS1. I’m not really a huge fan of PS1 and now that time has gone by I’m less enthused. It just puts out weird video. All PS1. The stuff is jumping all over if it’s 3D. Has weird jpeg looking artifacts on 2D stuff. Load times are worse than nearly every system ever. Most of the AAA stuff has aged like milk. If I wanted to play some PS1 right now and I was ambitious about it I’d probably go with PSP, PSP Go, Vita or some other handheld with a much better screen that’s powerful enough to run PS1 of which I think there about 100 currently for sale. If you like PS1 a lot, want to play discs, etc, I think it’s still a pretty good device for playing those games. The video won’t look any better blown up to 70” or whatever, and it’s portable-ish. The video of PS1 does look much much better in emulation though. (n/t) (SignOfZeta) (18:15:15 07/21/25 EST)
I still have mine, haven't used it in years (decades?) but it doesn't take up much space and is more or less self-contained so might end up being the last console I hang on to, for that matter. : D I really like how the games look on that screen. (n/t) (Paleface) (21:08:19 12/05/25 EST)
