NGP games were all carefully made to be playable in a portable situation with the save systems included in the games. NTM already saves between rounds and mid-round. (n/t) from SignOfZeta.
Fair on the power drain and upgrades. BT is convenient and I don't really mind the downsides, but it's a tradeoff. You're right that they do a good job with saves. Except Pac Man! It's insane there's no high score saving in that game.
