So I got Torpedo and Barbecue today. Torpedo is great, but, just like Destro, has the wrong gun. He's supposed to have a spear gun, but instead he has something that...looks like the gun Destro is supposed to have, actually. Do you have to like...buy them all to get the right guns? Barbecue is really good too, but the little hose that links his little fire retardant foam gun to his back pack is a real POS. The original was much better.
At the store I also saw the Snow Viper, who seemed really cool, and the B.A.T.T. which...SUCKs, IMO. He doesn't have a holographic chest anymore, his head is too skinny, and all his metallic bits are all all gnarly and haggard looking a zombie McFarlane toy or something. (n/t) (SignOfZeta) (02:48:46 09/05/08 EST)
We're in San Diego right now. We interrupted CIMA's dinner. The show tomorrow night is probably 1/8th sold out. Esco better fuckin' show up! (n/t) (substance J) (00:50:55 09/05/08 EST)
Wow, Trackmania is rad! It drives almost exactly like a Rush game, but the tracks are usually kinda funky like Mario Kart or F-Zero. The free version from Steam seems to be all about time trials, which is the most fun part of these types of games anyway. Not sure if I'll try creating a track, but there are surely some insane ideas you could throw together. (n/t) (Jason) (22:15:13 09/04/08 EST)
if you fellows didn't see it, KOF 98 UM is coming to XBLA. This is great. 98 UM is freaking excellent, and now I can beat you guys up in it over the internets. I will drill a hole in my floor now, so I can play onlinez. (n/t) (exodus) (14:45:22 09/04/08 EST)
Oh my fucking god. (n/t) (substance J) (14:46:10 09/04/08 EST)
wow. just... wow. (twelvestep) (14:52:29 09/04/08 EST)
Yeah, when I read that at work, I couldn't wait to get to the message board to talk about it. But now that I see this dinky thread, I should've known better. :( WE NEED DRAMA PEOPLE.
How many and/or which 2D Fighters and 2D Shooters will it take for Chad to get a 360? (Zero) (18:26:09 09/04/08 EST)
He can import this on PS2, so he may not care. (n/t) (exodus) (19:09:13 09/04/08 EST)
Well, after he seemed unimpressed with Death Tank's revival (ALL THE SAME WEAPONS AND GAMEPLAY OMG) I honestly don't think he ever will. You don't really get more obscure than Death Tank. (n/t) (Perdew) (13:15:11 09/05/08 EST)
Well, I'm no Chad, but I don't see any reason to get excited about games like these that I can already play on other systems. I guess some of you guys sell them or put them in storage or something, but personally I still have my old systems for playing old games on. So it would take new games to get me to buy a 360. Online multiplayer is not much of a draw for me, either, since as far as I can tell anyone playing games online just seems to turn into a total idiot. Including you guys. (n/t) (Sweater Fish Deluxe) (13:36:08 09/05/08 EST)
You fear the idiotness? (n/t) (Jason) (14:46:11 09/05/08 EST)
Well I'm no Chas either, and he actually took back our copy of Death Tank Zwei, so it's a huge draw for me! Also, having to swap out older systems is sort of a pain, especially since I'm anal and will only play them on the CRT TV I have for video monitoring. Plus, they f0rmat the games to look nice on HD TVs and CRT Monitors in the case of Ikaruga, and the slight added boon of having wireless controllers to turn on your console is just swell. Also, I don't really play the games online, but leaderboards are nice. (n/t) (Perdew) (14:47:19 09/05/08 EST)
you don't like being an idiot with your friends? maybe we're not your friends, but that's something I enjoy. also some of the games are cooperative, not competitive, which leads to much less idiocy. I will say though that I'm not interested in death tank at all, and I would certainly not suppose that a minigame from Duke Nukem 3D would be the thing that'd win Chad over to the 360. (n/t) (exodus) (15:56:14 09/05/08 EST)
anyone else trying out google chrome? I'm just now experimenting. (n/t) (exodus) (21:45:19 09/03/08 EST)
The 360 just received the game of forever, with untouched gameplay it seems. Gentlemen, even Chad (Warden and Zeta) will love this one. (Perdew) (22:51:48 09/02/08 EST)
I hope this link works, that pic below is creeping me out
(n/t) (a-star) (21:02:04 09/02/08 EST)
nice! now I don't have to see that fucked up scowl when I come here! so, yeah, new skeletor, I'm stoked! (n/t) (a-star) (21:03:35 09/02/08 EST)
I would post the picture of myself next to a big breasted woman dressed as a He-Man character from Comic-Con but it would look too much like the photo that just got pushed down the page. (n/t) (substance J) (21:35:32 09/02/08 EST)
I don't think the nostalgia factor for He-Man holds up as well. It just became so blisteringly homoerotic in retrospect. (n/t) (Esco) (21:40:36 09/02/08 EST)
Oh, that's nice. I finally saw the new Universe 2.0 Silverbolt TF toy in person yesterday. Wow, the plane mode is stunning, and the transf0rmation and robot mode very true to the original. I probably won't get it because the larger Universe 2.0's are like $25 new. I'm just glad the $10 TF's in general are generally good overall, so I'm satisfied. (n/t) (NeoGutsman) (13:04:27 09/03/08 EST)
I'm getting pissed 'cause no place around here has Onslaught. He's the only one of the Universe ultras that I really want but I REALLY want him. (n/t) (Maniac) (19:25:33 09/03/08 EST)
Wow, I ran across quite of few of him over the past few weeks. Actually, there's a surplus of Powerglides and the occasional Blaster (that one Universe repaint of Soundwave as some blocky stealth plane). I never did like that plan mold for Soundwave or whatever they named it. And Powerglide deserves better, but dammit, I want the original colors. The white with small maroon touches just doesn't cut it for me (and I'm not going to spend the $$$ to import the Henkei version). Anyway, Onslaught does look dope. I like that he's more like a SWAT vehicle. Oh, and I got my friend Leader Bulkhead for his birthday. Damn, he's big, but really, really awesome. Wish he didn't have all the missiles, gun turret, and non-show buzzsaw, but otherwise he's a great figure. I may save up to get him; next to the standard Deluxe sized TFA toys, he's quite accurate in height in my opinion :D (n/t) (NeoGutsman) (16:38:01 09/05/08 EST)
I'm just gonna leave this here. (substance J) (05:05:58 09/04/08 EST)

Is anybody here planning to get Left 4 Dead? I'm debating between the 360 version and the PC version, based on multi-player...issues. (n/t) (c bub) (16:32:33 09/01/08 EST)
popa ian and myself are 100% getting the 360 version after playing it at PAX. it was super ridiculously good. (n/t) (exodus) (16:52:51 09/01/08 EST)
Yeah, Left 4 Dead and Fallout 3 were my games of show. Honorable mention to... Wario Land Shake. It was really good, and the animation was really gorgeous. (n/t) (PopaSmear) (17:05:04 09/01/08 EST)
What makes it so fun? I keep hearing good things but then I go to youtube and it looks pretty mundane. (n/t) (substance J) (20:15:17 09/01/08 EST)
Brandon really likes that it's a different kind of zombie than we've seen in games. They're fast, but stupid, and very weak. Easy to kill, and fairly avoidable until you make yourself known, they are very intimidating in large groups. Ian likes that too. Ian also likes that the co-op is balanced so that you WILL stick with the other players, and not because you have to flip switches at the same time. Brandon brought this up over and over. The fact that levels play differently every time is nice, and the atmosphere is awesome. It's amazing to us that a game with random encounters can feel so well paced. Brandon had a great experience where, like CoD, once you're knocked down you can shoot from the ground, he was on the ground, his compatriots were trying to get him up, and all of them safely into an elevator (this would mean victory) and it was super intense, a real treat to enjoy a game while you're in the process of losing. And they did lose, despite Brandon being the last to die. Ian loved the sense of dread. Like when he was standing in a kitchen, and a teammate just jumped down, saying "c'mon, hurry", but Ian was too scared, and he was right, because as soon as that dude hit the floor, the room flooded, and was really terrifying. (n/t) (PopaSmear and exodus) (01:40:58 09/02/08 EST)
Oh, neat!! (n/t) (substance J) (03:50:47 09/02/08 EST)
i'm pretty excited for the 360 version. of the three upcoming games i have interest in (armored core for answer, fallout 3, left 4 dead) this is the one i'm most likely to grab. (n/t) (twelvestep) (17:00:04 09/01/08 EST)
If I get it (which I probably will) it will definitely be or the 360 as there is no way my PC will be able to run it. Yup. (n/t) (Apples) (17:35:23 09/01/08 EST)
When are you gonna Man Up and play with your boys from the monkey board? (n/t) (substance J) (20:09:31 09/01/08 EST)
I'll have the PC version thanks to my Steam hookup. I would consider getting the 360 version to play through the campaign with Popa and Exodus etc. If we arranged a Left 4 Dead night or something that I could schedule. (aerisdead) (20:43:25 09/01/08 EST)
I plan on getting it. 360, without a doubt. Though, i have to ask, what issues are you referring to? And why does exodus make it sound like the 360 version is definitely better? (n/t) (Zero) (23:10:06 09/01/08 EST)
Super Mario RPG is now available on the NA Virtual Console (800 points!). I picked up Ys Book I & II last week, so booyah. (n/t) (NeoGutsman) (14:14:16 09/01/08 EST)

Guys, recommend me some Shinichi Osawa/Mondo Grosso. Whether to buy, or what stuff I should check out and if I like, what I should buy. I really like 'Our Song' and 'Star Guitar' is alright. 'Push' sounds annoying. Or recommend me other stuff I may like that you're reminded of when hearing "Mondo Grosso". No Eri Nobuchika please. (n/t) (Zero) (03:38:17 09/01/08 EST)

I was out in my yard playing in the garden the other day when two young men in white shirts and ties with name tags identifying them as Elders Michael and Chris of the Church of Latter-Day Saints asked me, "Do you need help with anything?" I tried to get them to help me fix my bike's flat tire, figure out why the back hatch of my car is vibrating or pull some weeds, but they didn't seem interested in helping with any of those things. We did have a nice theolpgical debate, though. Silly Mormons, with their naive conceptions of Heaven. They didn't even seem to grasp the concept of infinity. How can anyone who claims to know G_d not understand infinity? (n/t) (Sweater Fish Deluxe) (13:04:51 08/28/08 EST)
Is this the best kind of joke we need to explain to you again? It's only been made about fifteen times in the past 24 hours. Seriously. Read the forum. (n/t) (substance J) (16:20:41 08/28/08 EST)
What makes you think I haven't see those posts? My post wouldn't even make any sense unless I had seen those posts. (n/t) (SignOfZeta) (00:20:44 08/29/08 EST)
Apparently you are a moron then. Your post doesn't make sense as it is. It can only mean that you think I was seriously asking Sweater Fish if he had a 360, and not playing along with the joke that had been developed far earlier by people that you are slightly less prone to antagonize than me. That is why you are either not very smart or a massive dipshit. Since you call yourself a vegetarian socilast autocross dyno by trade, I'm guessing both of the above are true. (n/t) (substance J) (00:39:00 08/29/08 EST)
Yeah yeah yeah, send it to my email. (n/t) (SignOfZeta) (01:20:55 08/29/08 EST)
No no man, you misunderstood the tone of his typing. It was totally tongue in cheek. See, even though it wasn't you who said any of that stuff just now, you've said it in the past! And that's the joke! (Zero) (01:21:52 08/29/08 EST)
It was never a joke at all. (n/t) (SignOfZeta) (05:42:04 08/29/08 EST)

this reminds me, i need to tell you my story about going over to max's (mom's) house on his birthday.
TEASER TRAILER: THERE IS A CYCLOPS PAINTED ON THE FRONT DOOR OF THE HOUSE. HE ALSO MADE A COMIC STRIP AND A VIDEO GAME (rpg maker) ABOUT ME. (twelvestep) (19:22:54 08/29/08 EST)
max is not wily (ian fan club kid). max may be worse. at least wily moved away. (n/t) (twelvestep) (19:24:06 08/29/08 EST)
They'll never leave you alone because YOU HAVE THE GAMES. I'm sadly very familiar with this stalker thing. I'll tell you this though, the worst is yet to come. These are the halcyon days, I assure you. Wait, just wait, until your boss HIRES ONE OF THESE FUCKERS. This is what happened at the EB I worked at. The good part, I guess, was that once employed he had more money to buy games, and therefore actually spent less time hanging out at the store and more time at home playing every 100+ hour RPG ever made. The bad side of it though is that as an employee I end up being the mediator between this crazy slob and customers asking me why he's such a basket case, why he smells like that, why he doesn't play Madden, etc. Well, life is strange. You have to take the crunchy with the smooth, I suppose. (n/t) (SignOfZeta) (02:15:54 08/30/08 EST)
Is is the final evolution of hipster negativity? I legitimately cannot tell if you actually thought I was serious about that (in which case you would be far worse that I am at even my worst "not getting it" moments") or if you are just fucking with me. Or, the third option, you could have actually been that stupid at first, and then decided to start fucking with me post-facto to avoid exposing your stupidity. This is what Zero seems to do once in a while. It could be something else too. (n/t) (SignOfZeta) (00:02:27 08/30/08 EST)
I call myself a dyno? That's like calling myself a sewing machine. Smart or stupid, either way I guess I'm nuts. (n/t) (SignOfZeta) (02:36:38 08/30/08 EST)
Thats particularly bigoted coming from you. (n/t) (Apples) (11:32:42 08/28/08 EST)
Why didn't anyone tell me how awesome Galaga Legions is? I mean, I know you did, but you didn't sell it. Also, I know Ancient is Galaxian, but what the fuck ship is Hardcore? (n/t) (PopaSmear) (20:30:56 08/26/08 EST)
I'm not sure because I usually have my system language setting on Japanese and, interestingly, the names of the ships are different (original is original Galaga), but I've never even seen hardcore. Is that something you unlocked? Possibly related: I can't beat stage 2 in any mode. (n/t) (substance J) (20:54:26 08/26/08 EST)
i feel silly now... i thought ancient was xevious. the solvalou kinda looks like the galaxian ship! anyways i don't have hardcore yet but the ship from xevious or bosconian would make sense... maybe the tank from grobda. (n/t) (twelvestep) (22:14:54 08/26/08 EST)
I watched a video for this the other day. It looked cool I guess, but the promo video was way too rapid cut to tell how it was even played. Also, this is like the twelfth "retro shooting evolved" type game since Rez so they are all sort of starting to look the same at this point... (n/t) (SignOfZeta) (00:05:57 08/27/08 EST)
The game actually works really nicely as a follow-up to the Galaxian legacy. Galaxian and Galaga introduced enemies actually, you know, coming at you, in a shooter, but kept the single screen, no-scrolling of Space Invaders. I'm also pretty sure Galaxian was one of the first full color games, so graphical bling is right in line. This game is actually kind of a descendent of Gaplus, in that you have lots of forward and back movement, and you can capture enemy shis. It's really a modern sequel to that series, way more so than it is a modern shooter. Sure, the patterns of the enembies that fly are you are more complex, and the satelites (fixed turrets you can place that can actually shoot backward and side to side as well as forward), as well as key ships in each f0rmation, the destruction of which destroys the entire fleet are pretty modern feeling, but at it's core, it's about memorizing the patterns that space bugs fly around in, and blowing them up by firing at the right spot at the right time. (n/t) (PopaSmear) (00:23:16 08/27/08 EST)
Yeah, exactly. This is what I wanted to say originally, but instead of typing stuff I tried to sum it up with "this is Galaga." It's just like Pacman CE (surprise) in that it's a totally fresh new thing that is done exactly in the spirit of the original so much that, unlike Bionic Commando Rearmed, it feels like a genuine sequel and not a nostalgia package. It's as if this went into development right after Galaga '88 and just happened to be released 20 years later. (n/t) (substance J) (01:29:18 08/27/08 EST)
I only played the demo, but I was pretty disappointed with the whole satelite thing. It seems like setting up your satelites correctly is the main emphasis of the gameplay. So, in a sense, you're right that it's about memorization, but more like the memorization in a stratgey gae than the memorization in a shooter. Not saying it's a bad game, it was good and I'd like to play it more, but it was certanly not as good as you guys led me to believe. (n/t) (Sweater Fish Deluxe) (01:34:36 08/27/08 EST)
Sorry, I meant to say "stratgey gaelic," of course. (n/t) (You've Got It Deluxe) (01:36:23 08/27/08 EST)
Space Invaders Extreme is a lot better. They should make an XBLA verison of that. I haven't played the PSP version, but it seems like the game would really benefit from widescreen and the removal of the dumb dual screen challenges.
Nevertheless, MegaMania Millennium will be the best of the three. (n/t) (Sweater Fish Deluxe) (02:01:05 08/27/08 EST)
Thanks to some crazy impulse buying I now own a PSP and Space Invaders Extreme. It *really* benefits from the crazy wide super nova that is the PSP's screen. Also, the audio is much better. No rumble though...which kind of sucks, but its made up for. (n/t) (SignOfZeta) (02:38:50 08/27/08 EST)
Also no paddle support. (n/t) (Jeurja) (03:18:01 08/27/08 EST)

Gurumin is good! (n/t) (Jeurja) (19:47:50 08/27/08 EST)
I'm worried R-Type Command will be lame. I do like the straight forward stuff, but I hate it when turns take forever. More Super Robot Wars, less Hoshigami. (n/t) (SignOfZeta) (00:03:29 08/28/08 EST)
I liked Daxter more than I thought I would, actually. And to resonate with Jeurja, yeah, Gurumin is indeed fun, especially for the price it's going for these days. Dunno if you wanted to get Castlevania though, Zeta, probably since you already own SotN and of course Rondo of Blood. Oh, and I personally liked Burnout on the PSP. The PSP 2000 seemed to have better load times than the phat one, but that is a more qualitative estimate from me rather than having actually timed it.
Also, I thought your girlfriend got you a PSP years ago? Did you get rid of that one? (n/t) (NeoGutsman) (18:53:04 08/29/08 EST)
How does it handle the boss battles? Like I said, I think most of those two screen challenge things are dumb and just distracting, but the boss battles seem like they require two screens. (n/t) (Sweater Fish Deluxe) (22:17:03 08/27/08 EST)

I would saying using your satellite well is important, but not the main emphasis. placing them, picking them up, and knowing when to keep all the firepower facing forward are definitely strategic ELEMENTS, but I wouldn't say they make it a strategy game. (n/t) (PopaSmear) (12:56:53 08/27/08 EST)

Here's something I didn't expect: Stardust (DVD) was really good. I thought it was going to be some interplanetary bizarro story but it was actually fairly conventional, and funny. It's nice to have another quirky fantasy movie that's not aimed squarely at kids, and not full of modern day references. (Jason) (10:11:48 08/25/08 EST)
