| | | | Metal Slug Anthology collects arcade ports of Metal Slug, Metal Slug 2, Metal Slug X, Metal Slug 3, Metal Slug 4, Metal Slug 5, and Metal Slug 6 onto one handy disk. Not too shabby. They don't include the extra material that came in the earlier, individual ports, but aside from that they play identically, which is to say that they're pretty much perfect ports of the arcade versions of these quality run-and-gun games. |

| | | Per https://github.com/farmerbb/RED-Project/issues/146 , MS 1-4 and X arcade ROMs can be dumped from this disc -- doesn't work for 5 and 6 (original stuff from https://web.archive.org/web/20230617014353/http://blog.livedoor.jp/scrap_a/archives/27095543.html ):
1) Extract SLUGROM.POD from your image of Metal Slug Anthology.
2) Extract the contents of SLUGROM.POD using podextract by ghoost82. This should result in two folders being extracted, roms and save.
3) Download and extract MSC_extract_v2.zip and copy its contents to the roms folder.
4) Run MSC_extract.bat and wait for the task to finish. This should result in zipped folders of Metal Slug 1-4 and X being created in the same directory.

For step 2, in WSL I ran "python3 podextract.py -x slugrom.pod"
Already had 1-3 and X from Humble Bundle, so this got me alternate dumps of those, and MS4. All run in latest MAME (0.267). |
