| | This is one of those Genesis / Mega Drive games Sega put on Steam for a few bucks, and they just put the game's ROM right out there in one of the install folders--so you can take it and play it in a better emulator, like here I'm playing the Virtua Fighter 2 ROM in Mednafen. Infinite continues by default, no need for a cheat code! ^ _^ And continue is pretty much instant--nice. Made by a studio called Gaibrain, say MobyGames & GameFAQs. It's way more of a real fighting game than you'd have thought! Kinda jerky horizontal scrolling, but does often kinda feel like you're fighting in a fighting game. Yeah for a noob like me it comes down to desperately spamming a single move...but I resort to that in the 3D VF2 ports on PS2 and PS3 as well, so...spot on! ; D I mean it does feel like there's a much higher ceiling in those games for actually learning how to play, but on the other hand this funky Genesis version is still much less frustrating to beat. ; D Secret Options+ screen with stage select (LEFT 11 times with EXIT highlighted in regular Options screen). Up or Down while selecting char for alt color--some(?) like Jacky have at least 3 colors?? But Akira maybe only had 2?? Get Dural on char select screen by highlighting Akira (if 1P; highlight Jacky if 2P, says GameFAQs), then doing LEFT, RIGHT 3 or 4 times--anyway until Dural's polygonal-ish gray mug appears. Have to remember to switch to control type 3 in Options so my arcade stick'll have access to those DP (aka throw) and DK (aka fancy kick) combination buttons so I can use my usual no-Defense (Guard) VF button layout. The characters new to the arcade VF2, Shun Di, and Lion, aren't in this Genesis version! |
