Me starting up ACA NEOGEO Art of Fighting on PS4 and giving it a whirl--setting up the menu options and then bashing away in single player as the only two single-player characters, Ryo and Robert (that starts at 3:00).

I guess I should have suspected something would be up with the difficulty when the default difficulty was 3 out of 8 instead of the usual NeoGeo 4 out of 8. : o I usually play NeoGeo games on difficulty 3, but this 3 is a heck of a 3!

Didn't actually get anywhere until I somehow got into a groove with Ryo in a run that starts at 16:23.

Lots of interesting game mechanics in this thing! All special moves take some of your energy meter. You can deplete your enemy's energy meter by taunting them! Aside from taunt, just a Punch, a Kick, and a Throw button--nice and simple. : )

The sprites are huge! I wish they were this size in all of SNK's NeoGeo fighting games. : P And, shockingly, the faces of the character sprites actually get beat up as they take hits during a match. : ooo The character interactions in single-player are pretty entertaining, too. Check out the little intro (23:31) and fight end (25:29) scenes between Ryo and King, for instance.

Also, bonus games! I screwed up the ice pillar smashing one at 25:54 because I didn't realized it had started, so began mashing the button late, but I somehow aced the bottle smashing one (20:43) before that.

It wasn't until after some flailing around at the end that I realized the other six characters are only playable in 2P VS mode! So starting at 30:59 I threw in a second player on a second controller just to see some of those other characters, I guess, and try their moves a bit.

Oh, and I really like the stages and especially the music in this game! King's ritzy sky-high restaurant and smooth jazz. : )
