Also there are little layout rules like walls come in twos, purple slimes surround the slime king (whacking him reveals all slimes), purple question marks can be up to two squares out orthogonally from a beholder, the mine king or whatever is in one of the corners and taking him out defuses all mines, which is huge because then you can collect them for 3 gold each = mega leveling. (I think it was from https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sLUsOQLAVac although it's using an older version.) Having learned that stuff, I cleared it on the first try. There's gotta be some RNG luck there because I'm pretty sure you can still get a starting layout that doesn't leave you a for-sure safe clear–no guesswork, I mean…but uh I'm not sure how likely or unlikely that is I guess. And mine wasn't a perfect clear / score, I think 'cause I didn't QUITE have enough health left to clear off all the walls, which...I think means I leveled or healed once or twice with some health left on my bar or something? ^ _^ So there would still be that to go for if I was that persnickety! Oh yeah there are also the "Challenge Stamps" to get, whatever you have to do for those. Oh: not killing the 9 HP "Lovers" who leave you hearts, not killing the egg, not killing the rats (except the king, it's okay to kill him people say in the game's comments). In the game's comments, people are challenging themselves to clear it in various other ways, like as a speed run, without using the crystal balls, the heart scrolls, etc. Apparently you have to run a local webserver for the download version to work--but a user made a single-file (html with resources embedded) that works for me: https://itch.io/post/12498688 Shift-plus-D toggles cheat mode. More tips, mostly from https://itch.io/post/12345920 : - rats face (l/r) the rat king - "gargoyles" (4HP) (almost always) come in orthogonal pairs (facing each other), as do the walls - the dragon egg spawns around the dragon - the purple slimes are on the edge of the map - "Minotaur's (6) face away from their chest." (They always spawn near a chest!) - "Lovers (9) are on the same row and face each other"' - "Gnome drops nine gold when all empty tiles are revealed" Thanks to anothergod on selectbutton.net for dropping the link to the game. : ) That one music track was reminding me of Rob Dougan's "Clubbed to Death" from The Matrix: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pFS4zYWxzNA |
