PCE port of Toaplan's infamous horizontal shooter, of course this Japanese version doesn't have Engrish of any king, alas.

What it does have is a mighty rockin' CD soundtrack. Does that make up for no Engrish? Well, I suppose it depends who you ask.

Follows the so-popular color-coded weapon-swapping scheme under which, once you get the gun you want all powered up, you spend the rest of the game dodging the other weapon powerups. Blech. The weapons, at least, are pretty good.

Your sorta squashed little ship (a lot of the graphics look sorta squished, lengthwise, I wonder why that was--converted from a different resolution?) also sports a hummy little tractor beam with which it can capture small enemies and launch them as big projectiles against their buddies. I may be missing something here but this isn't really that useful, especially once you have a weapon powered up a few levels--since by the time you get up close and capture someone, you could already have wiped out both them and their friends, and in much greater safety. I suppose you can go for style points or something with it.

The large and grotesque bosses came as a pleasant surprise. I mean yow! And they do their thing without any slowdown to speak of, nice work there on the port, Naxat Soft.
