| I'm not sure if it was the original Daytona USA 2 "Battle on the Edge" that I played, or the updated "Power Edition." You sit in an elaborate racing cockpit, sling insults at your friends in the cockpits next to yours, and try to beat them and the CPU racers to the finish line. Like the first Daytona USA, the physics are very tweaked-up and bouncy, with cars smashing and power-sliding all over the place. The arcade controls give an odd kind of feedback and I have to say that I don't really have a good grasp of how to stay on the track around corners. Ah well. I wonder if there's some rubberbanding here--it seemed easier than it should have been to catch up to my friend with whom I kept trading the lead position, and then my brother miraculously swooped in from out of absolutely nowhere to beat us right at the finish line. Bastard. |
