I never liked Metroid. That is, I tried to like it back on the NES, but I could never remember where I was going or where I had been, and so it was a constant exercise in slowly wandering around big blocky tunnels that all looked alike.

And seeing as how that feeling comes flooding right back to me when playing this, I can say that to the best of my knowledge, it is a fine re-creation of the series on the Game Boy. The game colorizes beautifully in a GBC/GBA, and the sound and graphics are all spot on, if maybe just slightly lower in quality than the NES, due to the limitations of the GB hardware.

But you can save at save pads, get lost wandering around huge corridors, try to shoot things with ice beams and missiles, roll up walls in a ball, dropping bombs that hang in midair, and, best of all, fall and fall and fall lazily down seemingly endless vertical shafts. Ah, memories.
