What have you been playing lately? I got an Evercade Alpha and have been enjoying Puzzle Fighter as well as the Toaplan arcade cartridges. Also in rotation lately: Katamari Damacy and Gitaroo Man.

Follow Ups:
Lately I’ve been into GBA. I recently finished Astro Boy, which I still think is the best game on that system. I found that my copy of Initial D has lost its saves which I took as a personal challenge to re-learn how to play the game (menu based driving). Now I’m playing Mother 3 for the third time. This time I’m running a very cheap bootleg cart (green plastic) of the English translation. Sometimes it makes crazy glitch sounds when it saves but overall it runs.
I also pulled out the WiiU, which is a very nice machine that almost everyone forgot existed even if they owned and played one quite a bit. (n/t) (SignOfZeta) (13:43:16 12/25/24 EST)
I have to judge a couple awards categories so I'm playing a whooooole bunch of new games, and it's interesting to see the state of the art but currently my favorite game this year is still Crow Country. I wish I had more time to play games for fun!!! (n/t) (exodus) (00:39:46 12/31/24 EST)
Didn't know about the Alpha! I've been kind of mainlining Dark Souls Remastered (PC/Steam) over the holidays. ^ _^ (n/t) (Paleface) (10:39:59 12/31/24 EST)
I played a bunch of MotM last year to prepare the Broken Combo Festival video I posted on the main page. Now I find myself still playing it from time to time out of habit. I started playing the Metroid Prime remaster recently as well. It's a bit rough around the edges, but still fun after so many years! (n/t) (Tekcop Namkcor) (17:17:05 01/02/25 EST)
I've been trying to burn through a lot of 2024 games because I've been trying to keep up with the state of the art more. I played 1000xRESIST and Indika most recently. (n/t) (aerisdead) (16:08:15 01/28/25 EST)
Back on Super Hexagon. It's so good! (n/t) (PopaSmear) (19:56:23 01/28/25 EST)
Hazelnut Hex, Horizon Chase 2, Marvel vs Capcom 2 on Steam, Dragon Quest 3 remake! (n/t) (bluefour) (09:14:33 02/23/25 EST)
Gitaroo Man is such an amazing game. I remember playing it after a breakup, and feeling such a connection to The Legendary Theme. It made me feel nostalgic for something I hadn't really found yet. When I finally did find the woman who'd become my wife, I thought of that song as a representation of our relationship. At our wedding, we made our processional song The Legendary Theme (acoustic), and our recessional song was The Legendary Theme (electric).
As for what I'm playing recently, I started playing a bit of IIDX again after about a 10-year break and liked it, so I splurged on a copy of the final PS2 version: Empress. Lots of fun, and an interesting study in how rhythm game skill can erode over time. And I'm playing the Atelier Marie remake for Switch. I like how refreshingly simple it is compared to modern Atelier games, and that the goal of that game isn't to save the world... it's just to graduate. (n/t) (Bean) (10:04:20 04/17/25 EST)
