That pretty much keeps me from really moving stuff in itself. I also play my old crap all the time and rarely buy new games so I do get use out of most of it. My kid is 11 now and loves 16-bit which is %75 of my stuff. I have thought about trading Panzer Dragoon Saga for an arcade machine…because that’s how much fucking money it’s worth now, but I’m too lazy to even bother. Luna Ian just bought a house, maybe he has something interesting to add.
Obviously I’m not paying modern prices but I do still buy old old games. I buy like one MVS game a year, I’m up to 14 I think. When I got super into mahjong I bought a bunch of old ¥100 jong junk. I have most of the games I want and I play them so there hasn’t been a lot of action. I haven’t been broke in a long time either. Some day! (n/t) from SignOfZeta.
UPDATE: In fact I have 20 MVS carts. That’s a damned arcade, and all of them are easily worth double what I paid. I’m truly blessed! I should just be happy with what I have and stop there but I do have a few more on my list…it’s weird when you’ve seen a cart go on sale for $800 from SNK eventually become something you can buy on eBay for $18 but later became something that costs $180…how the fuck do you even determine a price at this point? It’s been every price at one point or another. I bought my KOF 2003 as a complete kit for $75 and my League Bowling was like $40. Everything seems expensive now but at the same time. a much better deal than an $80 PS5 game or a $1000 phone that lasts maybe five years.
