If there were some kind of SD Gundam thing that used these things and it was legit, not some dead end Bandai experiment, I'd probably go totally apeshit over it. I'm indifferent to the gimmick but I could be swayed by some shit that's actually not a boring as hell figure of Peach or something ultra played out like that.

I could've sworn Bandai was working on something sort of like this where the armor pieces you would add to your toy mech would appear in a game. It was still very basic on both ends.

I know they have a lot of shit like that with cards that link to arcade games. I don't know much about those. I can only assume they looked at doing something with Amiiiiiiiiboooo and decided that they already employed everyone available in all of Japan producing the mountains of junk they produce on a daily basis, and while they could outsource the entire project, the predicted profits, combined with Nintendo's take of everything, made the venture not financially worth it. This sucks because Bandai has several toy lines, just in the Gundam brand even, that are far less interesting than something like this would be. I mean, kids are buying Gundam PVC figures out of catcher machines 24/7, they might as well throw a microchip in there that links to some half ass strategy game...at the very least, come on.
