I've put so many hours into the PS2 version. Looks great on a CRT at least. Sounds like I don't have to upgrade just yet.

Posted by Rockman Pocket on May 08, 2016 at 05:23:30 EST in reply to KoF 2000 came out on PS4 this week; I was stupidly excited, but it turns out (this is conveniently not mentioned in the PSN store description) that it's just a port of the PS2 version--which would be fine (as long as your controller has a touchpad, since they for some reason mapped PS2 Start and Select to that : P) except that while the backgrounds look nice and sharp, the character sprites have this weird blur or antialiasing or something on them that actually started making my eyes hurt after a while. Oh well, back to the Dreamcast! (n/t) from Paleface.

Yeah the sprite effect probably wouldn't really be noticeable on a CRT since everything would be a little blurred anyway.

On the contrary, it's displayed in a proper low resolution on the PS2, so everything's really sharp. Has a great arranged soundtrack as well. One of my favorite ports of that era.

That's kind of what I meant, but I didn't express it very well. :o The DC version has the arranged soundtrack too, it's really good! The DC version doesn't have the "Party Mode" survival thing or the "Maniac Strikers" (at least, I don't *think* it has Maniac strikers--I generally turn strikers off anyway. : P)

But it's so crazy! Also I don't know who to use! Who's good with Vanessa? I guess I was using...Ramon (?) in the Party Mode since it seemed to ignore the Strikers' "Off" setting, he worked all right.

I think the most used Strikers are Kim, Joe and Ryo, simply because they can extend combos so easily. But who needs those when you can also summon the likes of Fio and Rocky?

Okay I'm maybe just under halfway through the strikers (up to Terry and his alt, going from the bottom left) and so far I like Ramon, Rocky :D, and Joe. Ramon is prrrobably still my #1.

Oops the PS2 version doesn't even have that option. I wonder if they took it out because it didn't work? I can't find anything on the internet about it.

Ohh, right: when the AI is set to "Watch" mode, with Random enabled the game will swap all characters to new ones when one of the AI sides wins a round. I wish it would load a new random opponent when set to "Move" mode, oh well.
