I haven't quite given up looking just yet, but I am now mostly reconciled to not counting too much on new 2D games coming along that I like and can play, because there don't really seem to be any modern pixel art designers that like non migraine-inducing action games. Eh so mostly I'm just hoping for the occasional re-release of some good old one I don't have yet, or a superior re-release of one I do have. And if ever a new one comes along that rocks my socks, well, that will be a neat bonus. (n/t) from Paleface saves a lot of money this way too : P.

I just look at all the promo videos that come along with the new games on the PSN store. If something there looks like a possibility, I'll go check out actual gameplay videos on YouTube.

That doesn't seem to be the trend as far as I can tell from the numbers of reviews the store reports getting for games, particularly highly hyped game releases--they've gradually been going up, as far as I can remember. What makes you think the store is doing worse? (But yeah I wouldn't think most people use that as their game newsish thing, it crashes all the time, the videos are low resolution, and of course you can get them well in advance elsewhere.)

general talk among indie devs, so maybe that's who it's bad for. I can say for myself that our sales on switch versus PSN are roughly 100 to 1.

Every day I go to work to help develop an engine that will power a product and every time I see someone using the eventual product I will flip them off. Only an asshole would buy the thing I'm making. I spent last year on a similar project. All the money is in the expensive bullshit. Pay is up an and down but the "cool jobs" are very hard to get regardless. That thing I worked on last year went on sale with defects which the customer hopes to fix with software updates and I have my doubts that that is realistic considering at some point they'll have to stop working on this and get busy cooking up the next disposable box of shit who's engineering integrity will be equally undiagnosable by the overly monied knuckleheads who are %99 of its demographic. Does it matter that something which is inherently worthless and stupid also doesn't work properly if the easily distracted airhead using it doesn't know either way? In court, sure, but ethically? I work in the auto industry, btw.
