I want the NGPC game more than the modern game, but for €99 I'm getting neither :(

It says €119.00 on my end, which is like $135, more even than one of those newer Super Robot Wars games where they use all the real music. I couldn’t be less interested in whatever the game is they are selling because if it were 2D I would have heard by now but I have to say the packaging is the sort of thing that works on dummies really well. It pays homage! Look, a nod to times past. Another nod. My word, these guys are headed to a subdural hematoma with all that head banging. Oh look, see? They paid tribute! Tribute has been paid! Right between those nods and all that homage. Man, if only the soundtrack was on vinyl then it would be max Retro and even more oversized.

Now THAT would be period correct since the Neo Geo and Minidisc were introduced at almost the same time and both had a weird second wind around the same time later in the 90s. Many Japanese arcade goers were likely listening to MD while playing Neo, especially in the years between...SamSho 4 and 5. Of course Neo Geo OSTs on anything but CD are non-existent or close to it so CD would be the most correct. You know, CD, the dead reliable very good sounding format that nobody will buy anymore for no specific reason.

Addendum: my MZ-R90 is 20 years old this year, actually probably closer to 21. Still works, just the jog wheel is a bit dodgy but you can use the remote for that. I played it for serval hours the other day with amp at %100 on a 3rd party battery that hadn’t been used in a year. I look forward to my eighth iPhone when the new cheap model comes out because my SE is finally falling apart. This is the only iPhone I’ve had that didn’t get exchanged under warrantee and then break again later out of warrantee. The only thing my MZ-R90 hasn’t outlasted is this forum.

My MZ-R700 plays existing discs just fine, but if I try to record or make any ToC edits, it corrupts the entire disc. Everything works until it doesn't.

If streaming has taken over because it’s more convenient then why are LP sales going crazy when everything “inconvenient” about CD is ten times as bad with LPs? This is mostly logic to justify fads, of course. I’m pretending to not understand it.

yeah, it's pricey - I wonder how they're mastering the ngpc game separately, since it's DLC - guess they had to do some work to make that happen! Also curious what the UI etc will be like. Guess we'll see eventually!

Outside of the boxed version it's just preorder DLC, and I'm sure you can pay like $3 to get it. I'm wondering though, since this was initially pitched as DLC, but now they're releasing a separate version, whether you won't be able to just buy the thing digitally.
