definitely waiting to see if they get some cool colors in there!

White looks cool? Maybe it would match my Japanese DS Pure White.

Probably not, they probably spent three months defining “Pure White” and also from some shots I’m looking at right now they seem to be yellowing already so it’s a moving target, maybe. :) Or is it actually painted like the silver ones? I don’t remember. If that’s the case that pure plastic will never match or else Nintendo would have just done it that way in the first place.

DS Pure White seems to be painted on top. I actually have a couple of them for parts. The individual pieces are all yellowing differently.

I have this recollection of a broken NGPC that I bought with a white case, red buttons, and a black stick (or the other way around) - it looked cool, and I think it was official, but I can't find it now - did I give it to someone on the board!?

No. You mentioned all this the last time I mentioned that color scheme though. It’s a b/w color. The stick top is red and the butttons are plated...IIRC.

I guess IDRC, I just texted you a picture of it.

It would be totally 90s to have an image feature here.

Ohh I see, you needed a place to host it! Yeah I don't have that. I used to have a Photobucket account myself but it ended up getting weird and I think they ultimately shut down. So now I just upload pics for myself via ftp to a "junk" folder on my server in the monkey board directory...but I'm not about to set up a public ftp for that, and yeah a login-required image upload feature would be a bit too retro, not to mention against the basic design principle of this no-login board! *waves lighter*

Oh wait no I was on Imageshack, who also got rid of free hosting--now they just have 30 day free trials. : P

imgur is good for this. we have a script on the insert credit forums that automatically uploads an image to imgur for you and then links it - it's pretty neat! not that I suggest you do that here.

Am I the only one left who still pays $15 a month to never have this issue? I mean, why does it HAVE to be a shitty free service that you know won’t last? And doesn’t that constantly worry you? Like, one day all the images on your forum are going to be gone ruining half the threads. You could just have all those images in a folder somewhere. Wouldn’t that (usually) be way better? If anyone wants to do the work I have space. I’ll give someone the passwords.

Having your own site is definitely the way to go. : D When I was working on an MMO for SOE (:P) I would upload about 42 screenshots from the previous day's live player event to my ImageShack account, because of course SOE wasn't about to give me server access for that--and it wouldn't have been this handy anyway because I was able to make a script to do it and generate the HTML for me to hotlink the all onto our game forum. In the end I had 24,500 of these game screenshots on my ImageShack account. ; ) After I left the company, ImageShack got weird and eventually I just let the account lapse, so there went those hotlinked event posts. I did have them backed up though and now they're generously hosted on a player's server. : )

Why pay for permanence when transience can be had for free?

That is pretty cool, and it also explains why I still see imgur being used these days--I'd forgotten about them.
