Although it's a moot point 'cause I can't play any of 'em now 'cause they're way too flashy.

Even on an actual NGP?

I *think* so. Not sure I can remember, maybe I'll have to try again some time.

I only ask because I would assume contrast and brightness would be a factor and while the NGPC’s contrast isn’t bad it’s also not lit so you’d have some choice in how bright it is. The b/w NGP seems like it would be even more gentle but I of course couldn’t say as I don’t have your issue and only so many games work on that.

Yeah, R1 on the NGP definitely seems okay. MotM on the NGPC is less so; single white screen flashes like Ryu's super fireball are not too awful, but multi-hit supers with loads of white screen flashes like Ryo's circle back, circle forward + punch super (or whatever it was) are pretty bad. Not sure if playing under a brighter light made it better or worse. Can just turn the screen away a bit of course when those go off but still, not my favorite thing. Can't remember if there are red screen flashes in MotM, didn't hit any.

I wonder if there is some technology similar to welding helmets that could help with this. Basically they have LCD dimming controlled by a light sensor so they are fully open unless light goes over a certain level and then they dim. It would have to be tuned differently but the technology is fast enough.
