A brave, unlicensed horizontal shooter put out for both Neo*Geo and Dreamcast long after the official deaths of both of those systems, Last Hope feels amateurist, or, more generously, a few decades behind the times. Your ship is small, but with a large hit box, ship sprites look like they're stuck somewhere back in the SNES era, stages are strewn with obstacles, and small enemies, and the dispersed but unpredictable incoming bullets often look just like harmless shrapnel. It's nice that the German developers like shooters enough to have turned out this labor of love, but it doesn't really bring anything new to the table, and there are older games that do what it tries to do much better.
