| | Downloadable PS1 game from the JP PS Store on PS3 for ~$4, which happened to be about as much as I had sitting around in my JP PSN account, so... : P Lacks the 2-on-2 mode and about half the characters of the PS1 port of the arcade follow-up, "1 on 1 Government"--PS1 version is Simple 1500 Series Vol.30: The Basket ~ 1 on 1 Plus ~ (see entry 15) (but Plus says "1 on 1 Government" right on the title screen of the 1 on 1 mode ^ _^). And gameplay is half-court rather than Plus' full-court, so if there's a steal, the players reset to mid-court with their positions swapped. Chunky with wild sorta interlacing artifacts when played through RPCS3. ; ) |

| | In DuckStation. Cool characters and a tidy half-court 1-on-1 basketball set-up rendered a bit useless by immensely convoluted controls that include separate buttons for dribbling left or right, a shoulder button that does uh I forget, having to press UP as well as the circle button to do a proper jump shot, and fighting-game-style quarter-circle motion inputs for special moves unique to each of the eight playable characters. Tried it on an arcade stick but that made the l/r dribbling buttons even more confusing. : P This all gets tidied up and streamlined in the follow-up, "Simple 1500 Series Vol.30: The Basket ~ 1 on 1 Plus ~." This prequel though IS downloadable from the JP PS3 PS Store. Not really worth the ~$4 though considering the much-improved sequel. Concept, character designs and illustrations by "Slam Dunk" and "Vagabond" manga artist Takehiko Inoue. |
