| | Old mouse with black body and silver buttons that came I think with an ancient Windows 98(?) computer; the mouse went straight into the cupboard or closet whatever I had at the time, I think, because I had a Logitech wedge-shaped 3-button PS/2, ball-movement mouse that I preferred. Man, I used that Logitech forever, it was a tank. Anyway, got this Del OEM mouse back out of the cupboard a few years ago when I realized I'd been having ergonomic problems with the keyboard touchpads I'd been using for years. Basic mouse with two buttons and a scroll wheel. The silver buttons on the black body look kinda nice. Scroll wheel feels robust. Mouse doesn't move real easily over my tabletop--pads might just need an actual thorough clean, I dunno. It's heavy compared to a newer basic Logitech mouse I tried (see entry 1940). But it got the job done and didn't seem to bother my hand. BUT it's developed a problem now where it can't hold a click reliably with the left button; I notice this particularly when trying to highlight text, or when trying to click and drag a marquee selection in Photoshop--sometimes it just loses the selection; can get it back with CTRL+Z, but still, not great. And now that I think of it, the right button isn't registering easily. There may be a single screw accessible on the bottom...but I wouldn't want to try opening it and risk completely screwing it up when it's my only usable mouse. Hopefully I can find something to replace it that also doesn't make my hand hurt. ; ) |

| | Oh yeah, also, a good deal before the left button click became unreliable, pressing the mouse wheel down stopped acting as a third button. : P The wheel still works for scrolling, but not as a button! Sheesh. |
