| | Free version ("AVCFree") of this video editing utility by Anvsoft; I ended up clinging to version 7.1.8.0, because after that they completely revamped it with less functionality--I forget exactly what but mostly I needed it for cutting out segments of a video to get around copyright claims on my gameplay footage on YouTube, so I probably couldn't figure out how to do those cuts and re-merges in the new workflow. You can export in quite a few formats, including old and crusty ones, AND GIF, which the new hotness, open source and much faster program LosslessCut (see entry 1943) can't do--so I guess I gotta keep ANVFree 7.1.8.0 around for making GIFs from captured video. ; ) Cutting a video up in to segments to re-merge around copyright claims in ANV was always a pain because you couldn't enter in timestamps, and the time select playbar was REALLY fiddly, AND only stopped at certain spots, although this wasn't always obvious--you had to look at the timestamp it gave you (and which you couldn't edit) and work around that as best you could. ; P |

| | Didn't link to the web site for Any Video Converter Free or whatever because a) Anvsoft's site is a maze trying to get you to get the paid version and b) they no longer have links to old versions, and the new version probably still doesn't do what I need it to do, so eh. |

| | There's probably a better utility for converting video to GIF anyway; with this I have to export to eh I think it was AVI or something that lets me change (lower) the framerate first, then export from that to GIF, or something like that. And I end up loading the exported GIF into ancient Ulead GIF Animator 5 for final editing. |
