| Most cutesy Japanese block-dropping vs puzzlers don't get released in North America, and there's a good reason for that: there are thousands of the things and most are virtually identical to each other. This one's a bit different, since the blocks are rod-shaped thingies with stars on one or both ends, and you erase blocks by touching stars of like colors. When you (or your opponent) does well, clouds drop on the other character's side, preventing matches and running your pile up to the top--at which point you hit game over. It's super cutesy in a super-deformed style and all that but something about the gameplay irritates me--with the clouds and the way the rods stack, very often you won't have a spot to place a rod, or you'll need to match a rod to drop your pile but don't have room to match it. For $10 new I guess you can't go too far wrong though. |
