Found a seemingly unknown glitch or something in Double Dragon II: The Revenge on my PC Engine Duo-R: hammer on the I, II, and Run buttons all at once for a while in 1P Play mode, and the 2P character, Jimmy appears; the game acts like it is now in 2P Play B mode, except that both characters are controlled simultaneously using just the 1P controller. <img src="https://paleface.net/z/db/505/02_clone_girls.jpg"> <img src="https://paleface.net/z/db/505/03_clone_flail.jpg"> I was NOT able to reproduce this emulating via Mednafen. I was NOT able to reproduce this emulating via Mednafen. Maybe it's a quirk of my repaired controller port? If you've got your own console and can try it out, lemme know what happens!

Sometimes Jimmy appears within seconds of starting to mash the buttons, but other times it has taken 3-5 minutes of button pressing.

I was able to reproduce it using a standard Duo-R pad (as well as with a Hori Real Arcade Pro 5 PS4 (v2017) arcade stick through a Brook Super Converter).

Yeah, it's a somewhat bizarre audio-visual upgrade by Naxat Soft--not Technos themselves--with semi-animated cutscenes, larger, completely redone graphics in a less super-def0rmed style, a Red Book audio soundtrack which starts real strong but whose later tracks are more of a mixed bag, and moves and AI that emphasize the reanimated, somewhat awkward jump kicks and other ranged attacks over closer fighting. Oh and replaced the steel pipe hand weapons with shovels for some reason. : P

it also has really interesting/bizarre music. I'm a big fan of the soundtrack, as it's very scream-heavy.

Yeah I don't think I had realized how weird it gets because I hadn't got very far in the game before--the later tracks go in unexpected directions. ; ) Oh also they definitely ripped off SNK's Wolfgang Krauser sprite from Fatal Fury 2 from the previous year for their redesign of one of Technos' larger characters in the game. ; D (spoilery image inside)
