Oh wow, that's unfortunate. I can console myself a bit (and on the go) with the NeoGeo Humble Bundle I bought recently. Android versions of lots of good SNK arcade fun. Touch screen controls are abysmal as as expected, but most of them seem to have the ability to recognize controllers (Beast Busters KOF is strictly touchscreen only, but that makes sense). I have an OTG adapter for Android so I'll give the controllers a whirl on my phone and eventually my Kindle HD.
I really wish the Nintendo eShop had NGPC games. Will probably never happen for a lot of reasons, though.
