After they redid the packaging and only offered black ones they pretty much stopped making them. It was years before the Switch came out. Try getting a used WiiU for a decent price and you’ll see what I’m talking about. They’re still like $200 even now...used. Considering they launched at $300 five years ago that would indicate supplies are not plentiful. Nintendo sells them refirbed on eBay for $200 now and you only get Nintendoland with it. They got very very careful with production well before the Switch. I have never seen a NES Classic or SNES Classic. I don’t know anyone who has one. The stores don’t even have a section for them because they never have the product for more than a few minutes. I understand localized shortages around holidays but for a system to debut selling like crazy until the thing goes out of production seems weird to me. Why don’t they just open orders to make the things until people lose interest and stop placing orders? I feel like I’m trying to get a Ferrari or something that isn’t limited to millions and millions of units. (n/t) from SignOfZeta.
I've got a snes classic! and all the targets in the bay area have 6 or so right now. but I do see your point! they are indeed purposefully constraining until they see what the demand is.
