Emulated version of the early fighting game by Konami. Controls are interesting: each of the eight directions on the stick has two attacks, triggered by pressing either Punch or Kick; the tricky part is, while the three upward directions have sort of low jump attack moves, those directions by themselves make the character, Oolong, take a HUGE slow leap--and the timing between the stick motion and the button press is a little different than in more modern fighting games; if I'm remembering this correctly, I think you have to press the button definitely *before* doing the stick motion--a simultaneous input just sends the character on his huge jump.

Aside from that and the burning unfairness some of the abrupt moves inspire ;_;, it feels surprisingly like a "modern" fighting game, even though it came out in '85. ("Karate Champ" was the year prior--oh shoot now I gotta get that one; Street Fighter II--see entry 1368--didn't come along until '91.)
